A Quick Guide
What is the prostate?
The prostate or the ‘male G-spot’ is responsible for the erections, ejaculations, and orgasms experienced by men. As the male sexual ‘brain’ it directs the action and is also where the ejaculate fluid is made. That explosive feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you want to ejaculate is actually the feeling of fluid building up in your prostate, putting pressure on special sensors – hence the need for release. After ejaculating, the level of fluid builds up again, slowly or quickly, depending on your age and body.
Where is the prostate?
The prostate is a gland located just below the bladder which is surrounded in the muscle of the pelvic floor. The urethra runs from the bladder, directly through the prostate gland and out through the penis. Due to its location, it is impossible to directly touch the prostate gland and so instead stimulation must take place through the rectal wall which is found - yes you guessed it, just past the anus.
What is prostate massage?
Quite simply, prostate massage is the activity of manually stimulating the prostate gland either with a finger or specially designed toy in order to flush fluid from the gland and encourage blood to flow throughout the entire pelvis. As a healthy and very pleasurable activity, prostate massage should be encouraged and can easily become an intimate part of any man’s life.
How to prostate massage
Prostate massage may take a little practice, but by following these simple steps either on your own or with a partner you will soon see what the fuss is about!
- Start with a long, hot shower or bath to relax and to clean yourself
- Enjoy a little foreplay first, perhaps a full body massage or a little light petting
- Make sure you have lots of suitable lubricant to hand. Gently massage the lube into and around the anus and also apply a liberal amount to your chosen massaging instrument.
- To find the prostate gland manually, reach down between the legs and insert an index finger into the anus to the second knuckle and press forward in a firm "come hither" motion. You'll be able to feel the prostate through the front part of the rectal wall.
